This report intends to provide guidance for future responsible gambling education programs. The researchers note that responsible gambling is a newer and growing field. Yet, the researchers could not find an education program focused on providing responsible gambling professionals knowledge needed to run responsible gambling programs. They found that experts gained skills by accessing several sources of information. But these sources were limited in topic. The researchers performed a scan of training programs, a literature review, and surveyed experts.
The report identifies areas of study important to responsible gambling professionals, including:
- Responsible gambling policies.
- Self-exclusion.
- Advertising and marketing.
- Treatment and prevention programs.
The report concludes that future education programs should be broad for new workers. But, they should also include focused content for experienced workers.
