Cryptocurrency trading has become increasingly popular. However, there are concerns over its effects on mental health. Studies indicate that anxiety and depression are common among people who trade cryptocurrency. In this study, the researchers summarized evidence from studies on cryptocurrency trading and mental health. A total of 13 studies were included in the review. It was found that social media plays a significant role in trading behaviour, encouraging herd mentality and impulsive trading. Many people who trade cryptocurrency show cognitive biases and addiction-like behaviours in trading. People who trade cryptocurrency are also at a greater risk of anxiety and depression, as well as engaging in problem gambling behaviour and substance use. These findings offer important information for the creation of intervention and treatment programs.
