This report presents findings from a study exploring gambling treatment and support services. It explores the usage of, and demand for, services among gamblers and affected others. The study focuses on Great Britain and took place in November 2021. The results builds on previous studies conducted in 2019 and 2020. Findings from the study include:
- 59% of adults living in Great Britain reported participating in gambling activities in the last 12 months. This is an increase from previous surveys.
- 6% of adults reported being an 'affected other.' Affected others are more likely to be impacted by immediate family members.
- 57% of problem gamblers would like treatment, advice, or support for their gambling. The main barrier to treatment was the view that personal gambling habits were not harmful.
- 36% of affected others should advice or support either for themselves or for a problem gambler.
