Reports

Author(s): Baker, Chris ; Riley, Dan

Publisher: GambleAware

Year Published: 2022

Date Added: February 01, 2022

Resource Type: Summary report

There is little research on women's experiences with gambling. There are also few gambling harm prevention programs aimed at women. GambleAware has created a harm prevention campaign targeted at women. This report summarizes key findings from research on women and gambling. This research supported the development of GambleAware's campaign. Findings from the report include:

  • Women are gambling more online
  • Women gamble online more in the Winter
  • Many women are experiencing gambling-related harms

The report concludes that men and women have different reasons for gambling and different gambling behaviours. Due to these differences, a gendered approach to preventing gambling harms is important.
