Resource Type: Evaluation

This study evaluated BCLC's Voluntary Self Exclusion program from the view of participants. The Voluntary Self-Exclusion program allows customers to self-exclude from BC gambling venues and the PlayNow site. The study includes qualitative feedback and statistics. It collected data on:

  • Program usage rates,
  • The number of users who did not re-enter gaming venues during exclusion,
  • Effects of the program on gambling behaviour,
  • Demographic characteristics of program enrollees, and
  • Changes in gambling problem symptoms during the exclusion period.

The report includes recommendations to improve the Voluntary Self-Exclusion program. This is the second longitudinal review of the program, with the first published in 2011.
