Mindfulness is the act of becoming aware of your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Mindfulness is an important concept in mental health research. People low in mindfulness tend to have more negative mental health. This study aimed to identify subgroups of people who gamble based on their levels of mindfulness. The researchers recruited 843 people who had gambled in the past year from an online survey platform. Four groups were identified: high mindfulness, moderate mindfulness, low mindfulness, and judgmentally unaware. The judgmentally unaware group tended to be more anxious and depressed, gambled more frequently, and had more symptoms related to problem gambling.
