The purpose of this narrative review is to provide an overview of existing research studies on gambling among older adults. The authors reviewed and summarized the existing literature in three sections: (1) age, characteristics, and motivations to gamble among older adults; (2) gambling as a risky decision making situation; and (3) how gambling disorder is related to older adults. The authors highlight the importance of future research on gambling among older adults. Studies could focus on decision making in older adults as one avenue for developing public policy around targeted prevention.
