This report examines gambling among UK Royal Air Force personnel. It also examines related health and wellbeing issues including alcohol use and mental health. The report also explores how RAF community members can be better supported. The study is based on an online survey and in-depth interviews. It determined the frequency and severity of gambling problems among serving personnel. Findings from the study include:

  • Identified risk factors included having a non-commissioned rank, being male, and between 18-24 years old
  • Majority of respondents reported no gambling problems
  • Half of respondents reported symptoms of depression

Recommendations from the report include:

  • Raising awareness of gambling and gambling problems among personnel
  • Increase screening for gambling problems
  • Explore gambling problems among other Armed Forces services
