This dataset contains data gathered as part of the first Gambling Survey for Great Britain (GSGB) in 2023. The GSGB collects data on gambling participation, behaviour, attitudes, and adverse consequences. The aim of the survey is to produce regular data to be used for decision making related to gambling in Great Britain. The survey is commissioned by the Gambling Commission and conducted by the National Centre for Social Research and the University of Glasgow.
Specific topics include:
- Engagement in gambling (within the last 12 months, and also 4 weeks)
- Reasons for gambling, feelings and attitudes about gambling
- Problem gambling (Problem Gambling Severity Index)
- Consequences of one's own gambling and of others’ gambling
- Health and wellbeing habits (e.g., smoking, drinking, suicidality)
- Internet use, leisure activities
