Author(s): Whitty, Megan ; Breen, Helen ; Paterson, Marisa ; Sollis, Kate

Journal: Critical Gambling Studies

Year Published: 2021

Date Added: July 23, 2021

The authors summarized knowledge from previous reviews on health promotion for Indigenous populations in gambling and other health-related fields. They found 13 articles published between 2003 to 2018. These articles reviewed studies that spanned across almost 40 years. None of the articles focused on health promotion to address gambling harms in Indigenous communities. The authors identified three main themes: ‘cultural,’ ‘structural,’ and ‘methodological’ factors. Health promotion to address gambling harms in Indigenous communities would need to consider all these three themes to be successful.
