This report evaluates the procurement process for the Māori-specific Preventing and Minimizing Gambling Harm Local Clinical and Regional Public Health Services in New Zealand. The main findings in this report came from 33 participants who provided in-depth feedback on the procurement process.
Findings include:
- The procurement process received mostly positive feedback from participants.
- Evidence-based principles such as prioritizing relationships, community-led initiatives, continuous learning, and investment in people in commissioning of services were reflected in the process.
- The procurement process highlighted the importance of involving people with lived experience.
Recommendations include to:
- Involve partners at all stages of the co-design process
- Provide clear communication regarding collaboration intentions
- Ensure adequate public health resources
- Simplify language
- Standardize processes
- Address timing constraints
