Resource Type: Evaluation

This report evaluates Multi-Operator Self-Exclusion Schemes to assess their effectiveness. Since 2016, the Gambling Commission has required all land-based operators to take part in Multi-Operator Self-Exclusion Schemes. Multi-Operator Self-Exclusion Schemes allow customers to self-exclude from multiple operators with one request. Five Multi-Operator Self-Exclusion Schemes are evaluated.

The goals of this evaluation include:

  • Determining levels of awareness and perceptions of the Schemes.
  • Identify barriers to self-exclusion.
  • Identify possible improvements.

Recommendations in the report include:

  • Develop better methods to identify customers enrolled in self-exclusion.
  • Develop improved staff training about Multi-Operator Self-Exclusion Schemes.
  • Develop better promotion and awareness tools.
  • Support other harm minimization tools.
