The Scottish Health Survey (SHeS) series was established in 1995 by the Scottish Government Health Directorates. The series provides regular information on aspects of the public's health and factors related to health. Scottish Health Survey, 2014 is the tenth entry in the series. This edition of the survey collected data from 6,327 individuals living in private households in Scotland from January 2014 to February 2015. Gambling behaviour questions were included in the survey in response to growing public health and policy concerns in Great Britain. The Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI) and Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV (DSM-IV) were used to determine past year gambling behaviours and the rate of problem gambling in Scotland.
