Online gambling, or gambling via the Internet, has become popular over the past 10 years. It has been suggested that people who gamble online are different in significant ways from people who gamble in-person at gambling venues. As such, people who experience disordered online gambling may have unique characteristics. This review summarized the current research on people who experience disordered online gambling. Some common characteristics include a tendency to be male, single, and between the ages of 30 and 40. Available studies differ in their settings and who they recruited as participants. They also differ in how they defined online gambling and assessed disordered gambling.
