Resource Type: Special report

This report provides an overview of the use of artificial intelligence in the gambling sector. It explores how artificial intelligence is being used by industry and regulators, innovation that is taking place, and responsible use of artificial intelligence. The report was produced by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas International Gambling Institute’s Artificial Intelligence Research Hub. Information was gathered from surveys, analysis of existing data, and expert contributions.

Key highlights include:

  • While most gambling companies intend to use AI strategically, they still need the infrastructure and expertise to implement it.
  • Only one in five companies have dedicated roles for AI governance.
  • More than 80% of gambling companies use generative AI, however, the use of AI agents is behind other sectors.
  • Regulators are not confident in their ability to oversee the use of AI in gambling. Regulators also do not believe the that gambling companies can regulate their own use of AI.
  • Even though gambling companies do not all use AI to the same degree, the systems to support AI in gambling is growing.
