This report outlines results from a general population survey. The survey examined gambling, gambling problems, and gambling-related harm in Victoria, Australia. The survey took place between September 2018 and January 2019. It investigates gambling through a public health approach. Key findings from the study include:
- There is a small decline in gambling participation
- Many people experiencing gambling harms would not be considered problem gamblers
- Online gambling in growing
- Risky gambling behaviours, excessive alcohol use, and smoking are linked
Data from the study can inform policy decisions, prevention, and treatment.
