Gamblers make many decisions, such as how much money to bet and when to stop gambling. Research has identified three decision-making factors related to disordered gambling. The first factor is reward and punishment sensitivity. This factor assesses how people respond to rewards and punishment. The second factor is impulsivity, defined by unplanned actions with no regard for risk. There are many traits that define impulsivity, one of which is sensation seeking. Sensation seeking is the willingness to take risks to experience new and intense feelings. The third factor is faulty decision-making, measured by feedback-based learning inflexibility. This describes decisions that go against what is thought to be correct in response to a positive or negative stimulus. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between the three decision-making factors and gambling behaviours.
