Earlier this year, Greo launched a funding call for the Safer Gambling Information Project. The call was intended to fund an evidence-based pilot project to enhance the accessibility of safer gambling information among military personnel and veterans in Great Britain.

We are pleased to announce that SAGE – Scoping the Accessibility of Safer Gambling Information in the United Kingdom Armed Forces: A Pilot Evaluation Study has been selected for funding. The multidisciplinary team behind the project includes Professor Simon Dymond, School of Psychology, Swansea University; Professor Matt Fossey, Veterans and Families Institute for Military Social Research, Anglia Ruskin University; and Justyn Larcombe CEO of The Recovery Course.

The project will conduct a climate-scoping evaluation of existing provision of safer gambling information among currently serving UK military personnel and affected others, and will field-test a military gambling SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) online platform. Findings will enhance our understanding of current safer gambling information pathways within the British Armed Forces and will establish the feasibility and acceptability of a military SBIRT intervention, contributing to the knowledge base around effective gambling harm prevention strategies within this vulnerable group.
