This report provides information about gambling behaviour and participation rates in Great Britain using data from Gambling in England and Scotland, 2015: Combined data from the Health Survey for England and the Scottish Health Survey and the 2015 Wales Omnibus survey. This data is collected to help provide the latest estimates for the National Responsible Gambling Strategy, an initiative that aims to minimize gambling-related harm in Great Britain.
The Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI) and Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV (DSM-IV) were used to develop gambling-related questions in the surveys. The report breaks down gambling participation in Great Britain by gambling types and various socio-demographic characteristics, including age, sex, ethnicity, education level, economic activity, and region. Two separate sections in the report are dedicated to outlining the prevalence and profile of individuals who met at-risk and problem gambling criteria in the survey. The report ends with a brief examination of gambling trends that were observed from the surveys.
