Author(s): Rintoul, Angela ; McLaren, Suzanne ; Shandley, Kerrie ; Klein, Britt

Journal: The Lancet Regional Health – Western Pacific

Year Published: 2025

Date Added: January 23, 2026

The authors outline a model of how gambling-related harms lead to suicidality and suicide. The model presents six layers around a central core of harms and suicide. The layers include products, pathways (system and policy), and practices (marketing, reputation management, and science). The authors also present measures to address factors within these layers to improve regulation and prevent gambling-related harms, suicidality, and suicide.
