Greo Privacy Policy

Greo is committed to maintaining the privacy of individuals who share their personal information with us. Personal information includes information about an identifiable individual, but does not include the name, title, business address, or telephone number of an employee of an organization.

Greo's website may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices employed by external sites. These websites may collect personal information; upon entering external website, you will be subject to the privacy policies of those sites.

Accountability

Greo is accountable to its clients and stakeholders for the manner in which it collects, uses, discloses and retains personal information, and for compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), to the extent that this legislation applies to Greo activities. We welcome any feedback and/or questions regarding our privacy policy or our practices. Please contact Greo's Privacy Officer at the address given below with any questions you may have about our treatment of the personal information in our custody and control.

Purpose

Greo collects personal contact information from individuals who register for subscription to our newsletter. We use this information to send registrants our newsletter as well as updates on activities and events.

Greo also collects personal information from individuals who request access to restricted data, or who deposit data in our Knowledge Repository, in order to assess whether the request complies with the "Acceptable Use" provisions of our Terms of Use Agreement.

Lastly, we request personal information as part of our Evidence Exchange Program. Participants in this program can view the information posted by other users.

Personal information is only collected on Greo's primary website (www.greo.ca). We also maintain a secondary website for the Canadian Consortium for Gambling Research (CCGR) website (www.ccgr.ca) on which no personal information is collected. We use analytics software to monitor web traffic, user behaviour (e.g. number of pages viewed, length of visit) and collect usage statistics on both sites. This information is not linked with any individual or IP address and is used for auditing and tracking purposes as well as to improve user experience and site content. This information gathering does not involve the collection, use, or disclosure of personal information.

From time to time, Greo accesses non-personal information, including contact information which is posted on public websites.

Consent 

Greo only collects personal information which has been provided with consent by the individual to whom it applies, and only uses the information for the purpose for which it was provided.

Greo's website includes links to other websites, such as DataVerse and Constant Contact. Greo is not responsible for the privacy practices of any third parties. Visitors to these external sites will be subject to the privacy and other policies of those organizations.

Limited Collection

In instances where Greo does collect personal information, as identified under the 'Purpose' section of this policy, requested information is limited to what is necessary for the identified purpose.

Limited Use Disclosure and Retention

Personal information will not be used for any non-identified purpose, or disclosed to any third party, without first obtaining the express consent of the individual to whom it applies.

Notwithstanding our policy regarding disclosure of personal information without consent, we may use or disclose personal information without consent under the limited exceptions outlined in Section 7 of PIPEDA, such as in order to comply with a subpoena or warrant issued or an order made by a court, the rules of court relating to the production of records, or the request of a government institution with the lawful authority to obtain the information.

Information collected will be retained until such time as the individual withdraws their consent, or Greo no longer provides the service for which the information was originally provided, at which time it will be safely destroyed.

Accuracy

Greo will store personal information provided to us without altering the content, in order to maintain the accuracy of the information in our custody.

Safeguards

Technical safeguards, including a secure database constructed to recognized industry standards and accessible only to Greo staff, are in place to protect the personal information in our custody from loss, misuse or unauthorized alteration. All Greo staff enter into a confidentiality agreement as a condition of their employment.

Openness

We will update our privacy policy from time to time, and will ensure that the most recent version of the policy is available on our website.

Individual Access

Anyone who has provided Greo with their personal information may contact us and request access to their information. We will correct any inaccurate or incomplete information in our custody, and will delete your personal information from our records upon request.
