This systematic review examined cross-cultural differences in regulations, behaviours, and psychosocial problems related to sports betting. A total of 65 articles were included in the review. The authors found that research on marketing and promotion of sports betting is more common in Australia and the United Kingdom. Sports betting is becoming normalized. Psychosocial problems do not differ by country. Sports betting is linked with higher levels of problem gambling. Eastern countries, such as China and South Korea, tend to have more legal restrictions on sports betting than other countries (e.g., Australia and United States).
