This research examined whether sequential winning or losing impacts further gambling behaviour in baccarat players. Sequential winning or losing is when players experience a series of wins or losses. The researchers examined data from 3986 players’ accounts. The results revealed that sequential winning influenced subsequent gambling behaviour. Players who experienced a series of wins bet more money afterwards. However, players also bet more money after sequential losing, especially when the streak of losses was shorter. This could indicate chasing behaviour. Moreover, players were more likely to make multiple bets and risky bets after sequential winning. They were less likely to do so after sequential losing. These results suggest that winning may have more influence on risky gambling behaviour than losing, at least in baccarat games.
