Journal: Journal of Gambling Studies

Year Published: 2018

Date Added: November 21, 2018

The current study began to identify specific factors (mental health, substance use, and gambling behaviour) that tell apart daily fantasy sports (DFS) players from non-DFS gamblers. The findings suggest that DFS players are characterized by gambling often, severe gambling problems, and co-existing substance use and mental health issues. Most notably, DFS players were four times more likely than other gamblers to report suicidal thoughts in the past year.
