This manual is a resource for incorporating mindfulness into problem gambling treatment. It was created by Gambling, Gaming and Technology Use Treatment Services, formerly known as the Problem Gambling Institute of Ontario. Mindfulness has been increasingly integrated into mental health and addiction programs. Mindfulness can teach people to be more aware of their thoughts and emotions. It is useful for people experiencing problem gambling who tend to have faulty beliefs about gambling.

This manual contains all the resources needed to run an eight-session mindfulness group. It is intended for people experiencing problem gambling and those who want to improve relapse prevention skills. It includes an introduction to mindfulness and treating problem gambling. It also includes lesson plans for the eight sessions, as well as handouts for clients.

The first edition of the manual was published in 2016. The first edition is published on GREO’s Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention webpage. The webpage includes session handouts from the first edition. The webpage also includes video demonstrations of yoga positions described in the manual, and a recording of a webinar by the manual authors that discusses the research, development, and evaluation of the program.
