Resource Type: Summary report

These slides present survey results from 1,500 Canadian residents from May 7 to 12, 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey was conducted by Abacus Data, a market research company based in Ontario.

Survey data includes:

  • How often respondents gambled/bet online before COVID-19
  • Games respondents typically play online, and how often
  • If respondents had signed up for any new online gambling/betting accounts since the beginning of COVID-19
  • Number of days logged in/bet in the past month
  • If respondents felt they typically win or lose money gambling online
  • Whether respondents agreed or disagreed that they are spending too much money gambling/betting online and if they feel like they might be developing an addiction to online gambling

The data were weighted according to Canadian census data to ensure that the survey sample reflected the country's population in terms of age, gender, educational attainment, and region.
