Self-exclusion has been associated with significant reductions in time and money spent gambling. There is also evidence that shows that there is are a significant number of gamblers who breach their self-exclusion contract. Additional evidence shows that self-exclusion programs might be improved by providing clear information, offering support from trained professionals, and removing those who have excluded from promotional mailing lists.

This evidence brief summarizes available research findings regarding aspects of gambling self-exclusion. It provides short summaries of the evidence as it relates to self-exclusion strengths and limitations, enrollment, banning and reinstatement, breaching, and online self-exclusion.
