Resource Type: Research report

This report contains evidence for use in the development of a safer gambling information pilot project for military personnel and veterans in Great Britain. The evidence is derived from results of a literature search and a gap analysis of key stakeholder insights. Findings include that safer gambling information could be more accessible to military personnel and veterans if it incorporates:

  • Sources with lived experience of military service and/or gambling harms
  • A focus on normalizing and destigmatizing safer gambling and help-seeking
  • Messages that suggest taking specific actions
  • Multiple information channels, including channels that allow for repeated exposure
  • Touchpoints that already-exist, across the military career (but especially at the early-career stage)
  • Content that is targeted to a specific sub-audience (e.g., people who are newly enlisted or veterans)
