Year Published: 2023

Date Added: March 11, 2023

Resource Type: Brief

This briefing summarizes key insights and recommendations from GamCare’s Gambling Related Financial Harm workshop on supporting clients with gambling-related debt. The workshop built on the latest data from the National Gambling Treatment Service, which found that 6 out of 10 people accessing gambling treatment had debts due to gambling. Recommendations are organized by support, training, and tools for the credit sector, the debt advice sector, the gambling support sector, and cross-sector. These recommendations include training for staff in all sectors on recognizing the signs of gambling-related harm and what debt-related support options are available.
