This report provides an overview of evidence on the development of the GambleAware Support Tool, a gambling reduction tool (i.e., a mobile app). Digital interventions such as the GambleAware Support Tool can reach people who may be unable or unwilling to undertake formal treatment. The report explores the treatment landscape, interventions and tools that people can adapt to support their own needs, and how to overcome barriers to accessing interventions. The development of the GambleAware Support Tool is outlined: the app's target groups, product features, and monitoring and evaluation. There is also an exploration of issues around investment in and use of these types of apps, with recommendations for funding future innovation, app development, and research. Overall it is determined that rather than a single tool, many interventions are needed that are inclusive, effective, as well as culturally appropriate. Recommendations for furture work include evaluation of the GambleAware Support Tool, ongoing investment in digital innovation, and research that examines whether support services are meeting the needs of people most affected by gambling harm.
