This research report presents findings from the annual Young People and Gambling Survey, conducted in 2025 by Ipsos on behalf of the Gambling Commission in Great Britain. The survey data are from 3,666 students aged 11 to 17 in England, Scotland, and Wales. Survey questions explored young people’s exposure to and involvement in gambling, as well as the potential impacts of gambling. Findings are compared with previous years of the survey (2024, 2023, 2022). Datasets are available for each year.
Findings include:
- 30% of 11 to 17 year olds had spent their own money on gambling in the past 12 months, up from 27% in 2024.
- This increase is likely due to an increase in illegal gambling, although the most common types of gambling were legal (i.e., arcade games, bets between friends/family, playing cards).
- Young people were more exposed to online gambling advertisements through social media and mobile apps.
- 29% of young people had experienced gambling by family members in their household.
