About Us

Gambling Research Exchange Ontario (GREO) is an independent knowledge translation and exchange (KTE) organization that aims to eliminate harm from gambling. GREO is a provincial leader in gambling research and KTE, with a strong legacy for building capacity in Ontario, Canada and internationally.

Our work is intended for researchers, policy makers, gambling regulators and operators, and treatment and service providers. We are dedicated to supporting the use of credible research evidence for decision making in responsible gambling policies, standards and practices.

What we do

  • We create and translate problem gambling knowledge to support evidence-informed decisions in practice and in policy development to bring about change in the health system and the gambling industry.
  • GREO provides innovative strategies for partners and stakeholders, while scanning and monitoring the environment to anticipate, adapt, and respond to emerging gambling issues.
  • We provide leadership in guiding research initiatives and build KTE and research capacity in Ontario, Canada and internationally through collaborative partnerships.

Ideal skills and attributes

The Board of Directors is seeking candidates who will serve for a three-year term and provide a diverse mix of expertise and life experience at our Board table. We are seeking Directors from across the province who are comfortable with the Policy Governance Model and who will commit to regular attendance and participation with the support of their employer, where applicable.

Candidates with a mix of the following skills are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Knowledge translation and exchange
  • Strategic planning
  • Legal
  • Finance
  • Research (researchers and university professors)
  • Experience in problem gambling or mental health and addiction treatment and prevention
  • From Aboriginal, Francophone and visible minority groups.

The Board meets in person approximately 3-4 times per year, usually for a whole day, and meets by teleconference for about two hours a month for the balance of the year.
