Lottery gambling includes lotto (e.g., Lotto MAX), number games (e.g., Keno), instant-win tickets, and scratch cards. Lottery gambling is the most common form of gambling in Canada, and is generally viewed as a socially acceptable form of gambling. In addition, lottery gambling is generally considered a relatively low-risk form of gambling, due to the fact that play is not fast and continuous.
Recent research suggests that not all forms of lottery gambling are benign, and that high frequency of instant win ticket gambling may be associated with the development of gambling problems.
