From April 2019 to April 2022, Greo partnered with the Gambling Commission of Great Britain to support the National Strategy to Reduce Gambling Harms in Great Britain.
One of the ways Greo supported the National Strategy to Reduce Gambling Harms in Great Britain was by working with stakeholders of the Strategy to strengthen evaluation of safer gambling initiatives.
Well-designed and delivered evaluations of safer gambling initiatives are essential to understand the impact of safer gambling interventions, and ultimately what works to reduce gambling harms in practice. Our collective evaluation capacity is instrumental to accelerating the efforts of the National Strategy.
Greo's evaluation team has developed a suite of evaluation tools on the Safer Gambling Evaluation Evidence Hub. This evaluation evidence collection was informed by a 2020 consultation with National Strategy stakeholders about conducting meaningful evaluations of safer gambling initiatives. As part of the consultation, several stakeholders offered to share evaluation reports and lessons learned from other Strategy stakeholders.
The evaluation tools and resource collection has been developed to:
- Demonstrate how evaluation can be used to accelerate safer gambling efforts
- Deliver access to the best tools and resources to guide your evaluation activities
- Share examples of completed evaluations of safer gambling initiatives to inform your work
In addition to this suite of evaluation tools and resources, you will find an evaluation primer, information on types of evaluation, and how to adapt evaluations during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as examples of safer gambling evaluations and theories of change.
Explore these completed evaluations of:
- The Multi-Operator Self-Exclusion Schemes (Ipsos MORI Public Affairs), a process and outcome evaluation of a multi-operator self-exclusion programme
- The NHS Northern Gambling Clinic Leeds Hub (University of Leeds), a formative evaluation of a gambling addiction treatment clinic
- GameChange, a Pilot cCBT Programme (GamCare), a formative evaluation of the GameChange cCBT Programme
We will continue to develop this evaluation resource collection by working to better understand and support National Strategy stakeholder evaluation needs.
Work with us
In September 2020, Greo started helping Strategy stakeholders to plan and evaluate their programmes. We can support Strategy stakeholders who are interested in:
- Support in planning and conducting evaluations
- Connecting with other safer gambling stakeholders about evaluation best practices
- Sharing completed evaluations and theories of change with other stakeholders
- Providing feedback and ideas on other resources or supports that would be useful to add to the evaluation collection available on this platform
